Overview
Tuohelun was a member of the Lijia clan of the Plain Red Banner. Volume 33 of the official Qing dynasty genealogy, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, records that his family originally resided in Yehe, but the year of their submission is unknown. His son, Wunaha, served as a military officer in the Yunnan campaign, fighting at Huangcaoba, and later participated in the battle against Galdan at Zhaomodo. He was awarded the title of Yunqiwei (hereditary merit rank) and appointed as a city garrison commander, and his son, Shase, inherited the title after his death.
The military officer was responsible for leading and guarding the troops, while the city garrison commander managed banner affairs related to the garrisoned city. The Yunqiwei was a hereditary title awarded for merit; the original text lists two military positions and one reward. Shase later participated in the military campaign against the Dzungars, and died in battle at the Hetong Hurhana'er battlefield (the original genealogy records a missing character), and his son, Lingbao, inherited the title.
Yehe can be referenced to the present-day Yehe Manchu Town area of Tiedong District, Siping City. The original residence of the Tuohelun family cannot be directly identified based on modern ruins. The year of his surrender is unknown, which differs from the information regarding his sons and grandsons' later campaigns in Yunnan and Dzungar; the military merits were attributed to Wu Naha and Shase respectively. The battlefield is missing, and the location of the city garrison commander and the date of his death are yet to be verified.
