Overview
Aidanbu appears in Volume 58 of the Qing Dynasty official genealogy, *The Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*. The original text lists him under the relevant Manchu clan entry, referring to him as a member of the Plain White Banner, residing in the village of Nadi, and explicitly recording that he once served as a Blue-Lanyard Guard. This title is verifiable information about his own service and should not be mistaken for the resume of his descendants; however, the volume does not specify the exact duration of his service, his duties, or any awards he received.
The genealogy records that his grandson, Abuna, served as "Acting Military Commander," Guan Baozhu served as a Censor, and Ajintai served as a City Gate Captain; his great-grandson, Entehe, served as a Second-Class Guard at the time the genealogy was compiled. "Acting Military Commander" was not an unlimited, substantive official title; the term "Acting" should be retained in the text. Censors and City Gate Captains belong to different systems of officialdom and cannot be interpreted as a single position.
"Nadi Village" should first be considered as a traditional residence according to historical records, and its modern location should not be determined without verification. The entry on Aidanbu can illustrate the generational distribution of a certain banner family in the positions of guards, inspectors and banner camps during the Qing Dynasty; existing materials cannot be used to infer his birth and death dates, specific promotion routes, or to supplement his descendants with political achievements that have not been found in historical records.
