Overview
The Hanchuha clan is a Manchu surname recorded in Volume 60 of the *Comprehensive Genealogy of the Manchu Clans of the Eight Banners*, an official compilation from the Qianlong reign. They resided in Suifen. Ge Bo of the Plain Red Banner initially submitted to the Qing dynasty. His grandson, Gemutene, served as a third-class guard; his great-grandson, Xibao, served as a scribe; Piantu served as a Qiduwei; and his great-great-grandsons, Zhakedan and Wushilan, served as cavalry captains, Demutu as a defense officer, and Mailan as a military officer.
The genealogy also records that his fourth-generation descendant, Jigui, served as a Qiduwei; his fifth-generation descendant, Fushenbao, served as a military officer; and his sixth-generation descendants, Huli and Heise, served as cavalry captains. Here, "Heise" is a personal name and cannot be interpreted as clothing or banner color. Given the large number of positions held across generations and the lack of direct information about the fathers of each member, their lineage cannot be directly linked by the list.
Third-class guards were military officers under the princely court. Scribes handled drafting and translation. Cavalry captains and military officers belonged to different military organizations, and defense officers were also banner-based military officers. The descendants held positions across multiple systems, so it is inappropriate to record only one type of military post as hereditary. The specific ancestral home, subordinate institutions, Manchu surname, and individual resumes of the Suifen branch still need to be verified. The genealogy does not record Ge Bo's military achievements or titles.
